Supporting International Education
To the Editor:
I am writing to express thanks and gratitude for the extraordinary efforts made on behalf on Interna-tional Education Week during November 16-20.
International Education Week is a joint initiative of the US Department of State and the US Department of Education. It is an opportunity to celebrate international education and exchange worldwide.
The Newtown International Center for Education (NICE), with the support of superintendent Joseph Erardi, Jr, sponsored events during the school day. Students had the opportunity to watch International films, learn Flamenco or Polka, try international foods (thanks to Chartwells), wear clothes portraying their international heritage and much more.
There are many people to thank but I would like to especially recognize, Dr Erardi, Po Murray, NICE Vice President and coordinator of the week, Jaimie Rivera, Liz Ward, Tim DeJulio, Stephanie Johnson, Maura Drabik, John Sullivan, Karen Bambino, Keri Snowden, Chartwells, Lisa Romano and all of the NICE Board.
In a time of turmoil in the world it was wonderful to see Newtown students celebrating and learning about all things international! We look forward to this Spring when NICE will send delegations of students to Spain and China as well as host delegations here in Newtown. Sincerely,
