Because Of Anticipated Snow, Annual Clash With Masuk Now Tuesday
The annual Newtown-Masuk of Monroe high school football game, traditionally played the night before Thanksgiving, has been switched to Tuesday, November 25, because of anticipated severe weather conditions, according to an announcement on the Newtown High School athletics webpage, nighthawksports.com. The game will be played at Blue & Gold Stadium, with the kickoff at 7 pm, as originally planned. Weather forecasts that originally called for rain, now have heavy snow on the radar.
Newtown is unbeaten, the top-seeded team in the Class LL state rankings, and is looking to ensure it has the No. 1 seed heading into the state playoffs, which are scheduled to begin on December 6. Masuk, meanwhile, is the No. 9 seed in Class L and is clinging to its state playoff hopes. The top eight teams in each class qualify.
