Music For All Ages

DANBURY — Danbury Community Orchestra will perform under the direction of Stephen Michael Smith, music director and conductor, on Sunday, December 6, in Ives Concert Hall, at 3 pm. Ives Concert Hall is within White Hall on the midtown campus of Western Connecticut State University, 181 White Street.

The 80 musicians in the Danbury Community Orchestra are comprised of teenagers and adults from greater Danbury including exceptional high school, college and adult musicians from more than 15 communities. The orchestra is one of few in the country encouraging adults and teenagers to perform together.

The program will begin with Beethoven Symphony No. 8, conclude with “Sleigh Ride,” a popular seasonal piece written by Leroy Anderson made famous by the Boston Pops Orchestra, and also include works of Borodin and Bizet.

Because of the wide variety of music and the short one-hour length of the program, this concert is suitable for families with young children.

Admission is free. Contact Danbury Music Centre at 203-748-1716 for additional information.
