Routine Vehicle Stop Nets Drug Charges
State police report that after stopping motorist Benjamin Lee Sutton, 23, of Stamford for not wearing a safety belt while driving near Exit 11 of Interstate 84 at about 10 pm on November 19, they further investigated.
Sutton was found to be in possession of crack cocaine and powdered cocaine, as well as a large amount of cash, state police said.
State police charged Sutton with failure to wear a safety belt, possession of a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of drugs with intent to sell, and criminal impersonation. The arrest was made in the vicinity of Newtown High School.
State police said Sutton was scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on November 20 for arraignment.
