Benjamin Champagne and Andrea Marie Guertin

Announcement is made of the engagement for marriage between Andrea Marie Guertin and Benjamin James Champagne. Ben proposed to Andrea when the couple was 1,000 feet in the air, during a private hot air balloon ride.

The bride is a resident of Sandy Hook. She is the daughter of Joan and Gilbert Guertin, Jr, who also live in Sandy Hook.

Andrea is a member of Newtown High School’s class of 1999, and a graduate of Western CT State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in social sciences with a minor in elementary education. She is currently attending Southern CT State University, studying for a degree in special education. She is also a teacher at Mill Ridge Intermediate School in Danbury.

Ben, who lives in Newtown, is the son of Theresa and Peter Champagne of Newtown. He graduated from Newtown High School in 2000, and then from Western CT State University with a bachelor of business administration concentration in human resources. He is working as a technical recruiter for Aerotek.

A July 2007 wedding is being planned.
