Tree Lighting Parking Rules Set

Newtown Police will post temporary “no parking” signs at certain areas Friday night, December 3 for the annual tree lighting ceremony at Ram Pasture.

Police say the signs are necessary due to the increasingly large crowds at the event. The “no parking” signs will benefit pedestrian traffic as well as emergency services vehicles responding to the area along Elm Drive.

The following “no parking” rules will be in effect on December 3 from 4:30 pm until the end of the ceremony (approximately 7:30 pm or 8 pm):

No Parking: along the northbound shoulder of Elm Drive from Brushy Hill Road to Route 302.

No Parking: along the westbound shoulder of Route 302 from Main Street to Madison Drive.

Also, all of Elm Drive will be closed from Brushy Hill Road to Main Street at 5:30 pm.

Newtown Police will be on hand to direct traffic and maintain public safety. Signs will be posted as to “no parking” rules. Any vehicle parked in a manner that impedes free movement of traffic will be towed.
