For over 30 years The Garden Club of Newtown has presented its Holiday Greens & Gift Sale during the first weekend of December.

The sale offers hand decorated wreaths, boxwood trees, centerpieces, kissing balls and other hand-crafted holiday items. This annual event has been hosted in various community locations, and is highly anticipated by the residents of Newtown.

This year’s sale has been scheduled for Saturday, December 7, 9 am to noon. It is returning for the third year to The Great Room of Newtown Congregational Church, 14 West Street.

Members of The Garden Club of Newtown prepare the hand decorated items during numerous workshops in advance of the sale. Members collect decorative items and novelty containers throughout the year to create the unique, holiday themed items.

Funds from the annual fundraiser support the club’s annual scholarship to a Newtown student pursuing environmental and related studies; its monthly programs, which are open to the public at no cost; and ongoing Club expenses.
