Heather Martins

Linda and Ray Martins of Sandy Hook joyously announce the engagement of their daughter, Heather, to Robert Walnock, son of Ann and James Walnock of Wilmington, Del.

Heather is a 1996 graduate of Newtown High School. She then went on to receive a bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut in 2000 and a master’s degree in elementary education from the University of Bridgeport in 2002. She is currently a national board certified teacher, employed by Fairfax County Public Schools. She resides in Washington, D.C.

Robert graduated from John Dickinson High School in 1998, and then from the University of Delaware with a bachelor’s degree in 2004. He is currently working on a master’s degree at George Mason University with an expected graduation in May 2010. He is employed as a math specialist with the Fairfax County Public Schools and as a contract consultant for the American Institutes of Research. He also resides in Washington, D.C.

A July 2010 wedding is being planned at the Water’s Edge Resort & Spa in Westbrook.
