Filling The Fire Truck

To the Editor:

I would like to thank all of the generous residents of Newtown, who came out to support the five volunteer fire companies this past Saturday in our quest to fill the FAITH Food Pantry. It was a truly successful event. We were able to give the pantry 137 boxes of food, 77 turkeys, two hams and over $1,000 in cash and gift cards.

I need to thank the Big Y Supermarket and Super Stop & Shop for allowing us to stand in front of their stores and collect these much needed donations. Also, to the Big Y employees who donated all of the fixings to feed six families a Thanksgiving dinner!

I also need to thank the many generous businesses and people in town who helped support us. The Villa Restaurant, Big Y Supermarket, and Dunkin’ Donuts donated food and beverage to us. Also to Mark DeWolfe for our great lunch and the woman who gave us a three-foot grinder. Thank you also to Curtis Packaging for their donation of boxes to the food drive. It is heartwarming to get so much support from the town.

I look forward to seeing everyone next year for our Tenth Fill the Fire Truck Food Drive!
