Volunteers Repaint Kevinâs Community Center
Mary Holick helped turn yellow walls to a soothing blue inside the Kevinâs Community Center offices located on Peckâs Lane. She is one of several Danbury-based Belimo Air Control employees who volunteered for community service during the United Way of Western Connecticutâs Day of Caring on November 15.
Stacy Schulman, the agencyâs project chair, carried paint trays through the room while stepping over drop cloths and plastic along the floor or draped over office furniture. Victor Martinez repainted a cramped space toward the back of the center, while Robin Griffin balanced on a ladder with a brush and open paint can in the main office. Working their way along a wall from baseboard to ceiling were Mary Holick and Jean Nagle.
Kevinâs Community Center, Inc, is a nonprofit, free medical clinic founded in 2002 by Dr and Mrs Z. Michael Taweh of Newtown in memory of their son Kevin. The clinic instantly made health care accessible to those who previously had no choice but to let longstanding health issues go untreated.
Kevinâs Community Center helps relieve the burden of the health care crisis, providing the uninsured the care they need before they have to resort to urgent care. For more information, visit Kevinscommunitycenter.org or call 426-0496.
