Tree Lighting At Ram Pasture

The 23rd Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony in Newtown will take place on Friday, November 30, at 6:30.

With its November date it may seem like the ceremony is earlier than usual, but it isn’t: The lighting will once again be on the Friday preceding the town’s annual Holiday Festival, which returns this year on Sunday, December 2.

Residents are invited to join in singing Christmas carols while waiting for the countdown to light the town’s tree at Ram Pasture on Friday night. Hot cocoa and donuts are offered following the tree lighting, and Santa and Mrs Claus also make an appearance. Once the switch is thrown, the Newtown tree remains lit until early January.

Elm Drive is usually closed to automobile traffic in the hours leading up to, during, and shortly after the tree lighting. Newtown Police officers will be on hand to direct traffic and help drivers find nearby parking.
