Republican Vacancies On Town Boards & Commissions

Barbara O’Connor, chairman of the Newtown Republican Town Committee’s candidates committee, would like to remind registered Republicans in Newtown of the following RTC vacancies:

As an appointed position, there is a vacancy on the Conservation Commission to replace Cara Gillespie-Wilson, who has resigned. This position runs until December 31, 2007; however the person who is appointed can then ask to be reappointed for a full term.

There is a vacancy on the Water and Sewer Authority, caused by the resignation of Lillian Strickler. This position runs until June 1, 2009.

Additional vacancies: Commission on Aging, alternate, two years; Building Appeals Board, which meets as needed but has never met yet; Charter Communications Advisory Board, two years; Board of Ethics, alternate; and Lake Lillinonah Authority, three years.

Any qualified resident of Newtown who is a registered Republican should contact Ms O’Connor at 426-1515; Jim Smith, chairman of the Newtown Republican Town Committee at 426-4620; or any other member of the RTC.
