Raymond William Johnson, 74, of Scofield Hill Road, Washington Depot, died at New Milford Hospital on November 21. He was the husband of Edith (Chapin) Johnson and the father of Amy Brady of Newtown.
Mr Johnson was born in Danbury, a son of the late Carl E. and Jenny (Peterson) Johnson. Mr Johnson was a longtime resident of Washington and a 1943 graduate of Washington High School. Mr Johnson was employed as a machine operator for Kimberly Clark Corporation for 20 years before retiring 11 years ago. He was a member of the Rising Sun Masonic Lodge #27 in Washington Depot for over 40 years. Mr Johnson was also a member of the Gage Zumf American Legion Post, Washington and the Washington Volunteer Fire Department. He attended the Salem Evangelical Church, Washington Depot.
In addition to his wife of 45 years and daughter, Mr Johnson is survived by another daughter, Muriel Golembeski of New Milford; a brother, Randolph S. Johnson of Washington Depot; three grandchildren, David R. Golembeski, William Patrick and Rebekah Lynn Brady; and several nieces and nephews. Mr Johnson was predeceased by two brothers, Malcolm P. Johnson (killed in Italy during World War II) and Carl Albin Johnson.
Funeral services were held in the Salem Evangelical Church, Washington Depot, November 24. Burial was in Center Cemetery, New Milford.
