AmeriCares Provides Free Home Repairs

NEW CANAAN — AmeriCares HomeFront is in search of Connecticut and Westchester County, N.Y. homeowners whose financial or physical condition prevents them from making necessary repairs to their homes.

An estimated 9,000 AmeriCares HomeFront volunteers will work in 66 communities on May 6, 2000, to repair 150 homes and 30 community facilities for neighbors in need.

The application deadline for homeowners is December 17.       

HomeFront helps low income, elderly, disabled or single parent homeowners by repairing their homes to keep them safe, warm and dry.  Referrals are welcome from neighbors, social service agencies, religious organizations or city officials. 

Since 1988, HomeFront has revitalized nearly 1,400 projects, providing nearly $18.5 million worth of home improvement value.  Each year, HomeFront is supported by donations from building material manufacturers as well as assistance from 9,000 volunteers, including skilled professionals, local businesses and teams sponsored by companies, civic, church and educational organizations.
