Susanne Marie McLachlan, 89, of Newtown, passed away in Fort Myers, Florida, on November 3.

She was born in Ridgewood, New Jersey in 1934 to Paul and Jane Dunkel. Susanne is a graduate of the Emma Willard School of Troy, N.Y., and attended Smith College, North Hampton, Mass.

Susanne was also a long-time member of Ridgewood Country Club, Danbury.

She married George A. McLachlan, Jr on August 26, 1953, and they had three children: Jane L. McLachlan, Catherine A. Hurgin, and George A. McLachlan III.

Susanne was preceded in death by her husband, her eldest daughter, Jane, and her sister Patricia Carlson.

She is survived by her children Catherine and George as well as her grandchildren Courtney McLachlan in Groton, Mass., Ryan and his wife Rebecca McLachlan in Berkeley, Mass., and Genevieve McLachlan in Laguna Beach, Calif., as well as several nieces and nephews.

A graveside committal service will be held at 10 am Saturday, December 2, at Saint Rose Cemetery in Sandy Hook. Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street in Newtown is serving the family.
