Stamps Help Breast Cancer Research
HARTFORD âMark your holidays this year with stamp s that make a difference.
âHolidays are typically the time of year when we tell our family, friends, and associates how much they mean to us in our lives,â said Jo Saunders, Connecticut district manager of the Postal Service. âAlthough the Postal Service has a myriad of stamps available this holiday season, we hope that our customers will send their greetings using a stamp that makes a difference â the Breast Cancer Research stamp.â
More than 130 million of the stamps have been sold since its issuance on July 29, 1998, raising approximately $9.6 million for breast cancer research. Each 40-cent stamp sold provides seven cents for research.
âThough millions have been raised through this stamp, the battle is not yet won,â Ms Saunders said. âBreast cancer affects so many lives â young and old, male and female. Purchasing this stamp is one way to show your support and dedication to this worthy cause. Itâs the stamp that makes a difference to so many!â
If every stamp in the country were sold, an additional $10 million would go to research. The stamp will be on sale only through July, 2000.
Ms Saunders encourages the purchase of Breast Cancer Research stamps for stocking stuffers and gifts. The stamp is sold in sheets of 20, at a cost of $8. Stamps may be purchased at your local post office, online at www.usps.com (Click on âSTAMPSOnline,â âBuy Onlineâ) or by calling 800/STAMP-24.
