Free Health Screening

For Local Veterans

DANBURY — VA Connecticut Healthcare System will conduct a free preventive care health screening for area veterans at Danbury Ives Manor, Main Street in Danbury, on Wednesday, December 1.

This free exam takes approximately 45 minutes and includes checks for blood pressure, pulse, total and HDL cholesterol, hearing loss and blood glucose. Lung function tests are available for veterans who smoke or who are experiencing breathing problems.  Participants will be given a home test kit to screen for colon-rectal cancer.  No fasting or special diet is required for the screening.

This screening is open to honorably discharged veterans who are not currently enrolled at VA Connecticut healthcare System.  Veterans should bring a copy of their discharge papers (DD214). Veterans who are not enrolled at VA Connecticut can enroll during this screening.

Screenings are available by appointment. Please call Pat Waldron, director of Veterans Affairs Danbury, at 797-4520.

All area veterans, especially service connected and low income veterans, are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity for free preventive care.
