Snapshot: Andy DeWolfe
Occupation: I am a senior at Newtown High School, and looking at Naugatuck Community College for their automotive technician studies. I work part-time at LeReine’s Cuisine, and I work for LRM contractors in the winter, shoveling.
Family: My mother is Judi and my father is Mark. I have an older sister. Her name is Ali. She’s 19 and goes to the Culinary Institute of America. I get free food out of it, so that’s good.
Pets: I have a dog, a Labrador retriever. He’s a fox red Lab, not a common color. His name is Logan, and he is about 6 years old.
How long have you lived here? I’ve lived in Sandy Hook for 17 years, all my life. I love it.
What do you like to do in your free time? I’m part of the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company, and have been since 2005. I like to drive tractors around in my backyard. I just bought an International Farmall last week. I want to get a mower and start mowing fields for property owners, to earn some money.
Do you have a favorite television show? I like Emergency!, about a fire department in Los Angeles.
Do you have a favorite vacation destination? Westerly, R.I. It’s far enough away from home, but close enough that if we need to get back, we can. I like the beaches there, and I go every summer.
What is the best thing about Newtown? The people. They’re nice and they’re kind. Most are really nice to be around.
Who has been the greatest influence in your life? My parents. They teach me all the rights from wrongs. Being a member of the firehouse has also been a big influence on getting me ready for life.
Do you have a personal philosophy? Take every day, one day at a time.
Do you have a guilty pleasure? Chocolate — lots and lots of chocolate.
