Police Reports, November 8-18, 2014
Mt Pleasant DUI
Police report that at about 10:30 pm on November 13, they stopped motorist Kathryn Casas, 37, of Danbury for making a motor vehicle violation on Mt Pleasant Road, near its intersection with Susan Lane.
After investigating, police charged Casas with driving under the influence and with failure to drive in the proper lane.
Following processing, police released Casas on $1,000 bail for a November 26 arraignment on the charges in Danbury Superior Court.
Mercury Vs Cadillac
Motorist Ilse Foster, 90, of Stepney was driving a 2004 Mercury Sable sedan in a commercial parking lot at 5 Queen Street at about 3 pm on November 8, when while pulling into a parking space, the Mercury struck a parked, unoccupied 2013 Cadillac CTS sedan, police report.
There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.
Mile Hill Road
Police report that at about 8:15 am on November 12, motorist Dennis Bickerstaff, 60, of Southbury, who was driving a 2010 BMW 5-series sedan, was waiting on westbound Mile Hill Road, near its intersection with South Main Street, when the BMW moved forward, striking the rear end of a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV driven by Bonny Rodger, 57, of Waterbury.
There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Bickerstaff for following too closely.
South Main Crash
Motorist Marie Sweetman, 61, of Milford, who was driving a 2014 Subaru Forester SUV near 99 South Main Street about 8 am on November 12, stopped for traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by a 2007 Jeep Commander SUV driven by Timothy Oliver, 53, of Bridgeport, according to police.
There were no injuries. Oliver received an infraction for following to closely and for illegal use of a handheld cellphone while driving, and Sweetman received an infraction for driving an unregistered vehicle, police said.
Town Truck
Police report that at about 9:15 am on November 13 in a commercial parking lot at 51 Berkshire Road, Amandio Dos Santos, 53, of Danbury, who was driving a town-owned 2007 Ford F-550 truck, was backing out of a parking space and struck a 2000 Jeep SUV driven by Brian Olszewski, 20, of 4 Old Green Road. There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.
Ford Vs Chevy
A two-vehicle accident occurred on northbound South Main Street near its northern intersection with Appleblossom Lane about 12:30 pm on November 15.
Motorist Caroline Wagner, 43, of Farmington, who was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV, stopped for traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by motorist Ashlee Honiker, 18, of 54 Far View Drive, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Honiker a written warning for following too closely.
DUI Warrant
State police report they went to Danbury late on the night of November 10 and served a warrant against Segundo Matute, 32, of Danbury, charging Matute with driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, and failure to drive in the proper lane.
The three charges stem from an incident that occurred in Newtown late on the night of December 1, 2013, on westbound Interstate 84, near Exit 9, state police said.
In that incident, Matute was driving a 2002 Ford Explorer SUV, when he fell asleep at the wheel, and then went off the highway, driving up a slope and knocking down two trees, state police have said.
After processing the arrest, state police released Matute on $25,000 bail for a December 8 court arraignment.
Three Vehicles
Police report a three-vehicle chain-reaction accident on Berkshire Road near its intersection with Wasserman Way about 7:40 am on November 18.
All three vehicles were headed westward on Berkshire Road when the incident occurred during the morning rush.
In the accident, motorist Lauren Jones, 25, of 14 Deerfield Drive, who was driving a 2014 Toyota RAV-4 SUV, struck the rear end of a 2003 Mazda Tribute SUV driven by Valerie Silvas, 42, of Watertown, resulting in the Mazda being pushed forward into the rear end of a 2004 Mitsubishi Galant sedan driven by Janee Blackwell, 33, of Bridgeport, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Jones an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart. Police said they gave Blackwell an infraction for driving an unregistered vehicle.
BMW Off Road
Police said they received a call about 7:55 am on November 16 reporting a one-vehicle accident on Butterfield Road, the street that links Currituck Road to Hanover Road.
Police said motorist Caitlyn Allgaier, 29, of 56 Parmalee Hill Road was driving a 1993 BMW 325-I coupe eastward on Butterfield Road, when the auto went off the road, entered a ditch and then hit a stone wall along the westbound road shoulder.
There were no injuries. Police said Allgaier received an infraction for failure to drive to the right.
