NEW YORK CITY â âPlates by Artistsâ will be on view December 8âJanuary 19 at Nohra Haime Gallery.

Throughout the Twentieth Century artists have been drawn to the decorative arts and many of them have been fascinated by plates. This exhibition will include more than 810 plates, including limited editions, museum plates and in some cases unlimited number of plates. Some have been used for dining, others have been seen as fine works of art, but in all cases this is one more expression of the artistâs versatility.

Artists in the exhibition include: Albers, Appel, Arman, Cezanne, Chagal, Dali, Delaunay, Hirst, Kandinsky, Klimt, Lichtenstein, Lissitsky, Mapplethorpe, Picasso, Rauschenberg, Ruscha, Warhol, Wesselmann and Wyeth.

A benefit for Free Arts NYC will take place Tuesday, December 12, from 6 to 8 pm; $75 per person.

Finally, The Time Has Come(And Some Reminders)

Not approving a development that has "checked" all the boxes because the NIMBY mob doesn't like it is wrong.

The town historically has strong collaboration with developers, but the primary obstacle arises from community opposition exerting undue influence on the zoning department. This "NIMBY" pressure often leads to project rejections that exceed the department's actual jurisdiction or authority. Consequently, developers face a limited set of options: either engage in expensive legal battles or leverage the Connecticut Affordable Housing Land Use Appeals Procedure (CGS § 8-30g) as a recourse.

You are correct, Bruce. I know how hard these plans are to put together, but I still believe that we can have more definitive and measurable goals. I know there are a number of units coming online, and the community truly needs them. If only we can move the development of affordable housing to more of a partnership between the community and the developers than the adversarial tug-of-war it seems to be now, that would be good progress.
