With the 2003 fall season slowly – but surely – winding down, a trio of Newtown Soccer Club travel teams are still finding success.

The Rampage (Girls U12) captured the Northwest District championship by maintaining an undefeated record after beating New Milford, 3-0. Kate Bowen, Caleigh Boyle and Kirsten Hudock all scored goals in the win while Boyle, Taylor Smith and Laura Bittman were credited with assists.

Midfielders Sara Kelley and Laetitia de Brantes played well bringing the ball down field to lead the attack while Katie Pessin registered the shutout in the goal.

Meanwhile, the Hurricanes (Girls U13) defeated Litchfield, 4-2, after rallying back from a 2-0 halftime deficit. Kasey Schulz scored a pair of goals while Genna Scheuerell and Mary Bloshuk each added one goal apiece. Kelley Sullivan and Katie Serock played solid defense with Cassie David in goal.

And the Gators (Girls U14) – with just nine players – slipped past Litchfield, 2-1. Harriet Morgan scored a pair of goals to lead the way. Her first came off a slide rule pass by Christie Attanasio to beat the offside trap set by Litchfield and her second was assisted by Eva Cerreta five minutes later. Team spirit won the game for the Gators with Jackie Petrasanta and Alana Bilangi outstanding in their respective positions.
