WATERBURY â Mezzo soprano Margaret Capen will sing and pianist King Bosworth will accompany during the opening concert of the 6th Annual Chamber Music Concert Series. âRomantic Songs of Europe,â sponsored by Teikyo Post University and Greater Waterbury Classic Concerts, will be performed on Sunday, November 23, at 3 pm, in MacDermid Hall on the Teikyo Post campus, 800 Country Club Road.
The program will include German lieder by Schumann, Russian songs by Rachmaninoff and Tchiakovsky, Italian and French songs by Falconieri, Donaudy, Poulenc and Satie, English songs by Edwards, Williams, and Charles and arias by Massenet, Saint-Saens and Bizet.
Connecticut born and New York educated, Ms Capen recently returned from her fourth trip to Europe, where she gave concerts in Italy. She has also performed at the Musikdorf Festival in Ernen, Switzerland, has been a guest soloist with the Waterbury Symphony and has given recitals in New York and throughout New England. Margaret Capen has received the Jane and Michael Sendzimir Scholarship for the past four years.
King Bosworth studied piano at the Juilliard School of Music and has appeared frequently in the New York metropolitan area as a solo pianist and in two piano programs. He performed in a tour of six major music capitals in Europe and a seven-concert tour with the Manila Symphony in the Philippines.
Soprano Sherry Langrock of Southbury, a winner of the Greater Waterbury Classic Concerts Music Scholarship Competition, will open the program with Amarilli Mia Bella by Caccini.
