Mr and Mrs Joseph Driscoll Devine IV

Tamara Burke of Glastonbury and Joseph Driscoll Devine IV of Storrs, were married February 1 at St Rose of Lima Church in Newtown with Monsignor George Birge and the Rev Constance Young, mother of the groom, officiating.

A reception following the ceremony took place at the Candlewood Inn, Brookfield.

The bride is the daughter of L. Brian and Maria Burke of 60 Sugar Lane, Newtown.

The groom is the son of Dr Joseph D. Devine III of Groton, and the Rev Constance F. Young of Groton Long Point.

The bride was given in marriage by her father, L. Brian Burke. She wore a simple ivory silk and satin gown with beaded band at the hem and bodice and a cathedral-length veil. Her bouquet consisted of burgundy and white roses, white parrot tulips and freesias.

Matron of honor was Kristin Hynes of Trumbull, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids’ dresses were black satin skirts with black velvet halter tops. Each bridesmaid’s bouquet was different and was made of one flower type, such as red tulips or gerber daisies.

Bridesmaids were the groom’s sister, Jaime McKinley of Hebron, and the bride’s college friends from the University of Vermont, including Kerry Pasquarelli of East Hampton, Elizabeth Koch Mossi of Sudbury, Mass., and Stephanie Larkin of Burlington, Vt.

Best man was the groom’s father, Joseph Devine III.

Ushers included the groom’s friends from the University of Connecticut, Geoff Nevins of Farmington, James Nevins of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Peter Craig of Portland, and a friend from high school, Christopher Adams of New York, N.Y.

Ring bearer was Philip T. “Quint” Hynes V, nephew of the bride, of Trumbull.

The bride graduated from the University of Vermont with the Class of 1993, and she received a master’s degree from the University of Connecticut in 2003. She is a project manager and environmental engineer at Camp, Dresser and McKee Inc, of Wethersfield.

The groom attended the University of Connecticut, Storrs, with the Class of 1995 and he earned a master’s degree from UConn in 2002. He is an associate environmental engineer at Lenard Engineering Inc, in Storrs.

After a wedding trip to Hawaii and Lake Tahoe, the couple have been residing in Glastonbury.
