Frederick Fable
Frederick J. Fable, 59, of Westport, died November 17 at Norwalk Hospital. Fred was born in Norwalk, son of the late Frederick J. and Edna Fable, and had been a lifelong resident of Westport.
Fred is survived by his wife, Ellen Smilanich Fable, and will be dearly missed by a cousin Muriel Holtzman of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; his father-in-law, John Smilanich of Westport; two sisters-in-law, Jackie Aminti of Newtown, and JoAnn Cassano of Redding; two nieces, Kelly Aminti of Newtown, and Nicole Cassano of Ann Arbor, Mich.; and one nephew, John Aminti of Newtown.
He was a self-employed real estate developer and the former owner of Fableâs North Main Garage. Fred was a member of the Down Shifters and was a member and past secretary of the Westport Rotary Club. He was also a member and former board member of the United Spinal Association (formerly the Eastern Paralyzed Veterans Association). Fred was also a veteran of the US Navy, and a member of the Joseph J. Clinton VFW Post 399.
A private graveside service was held in Willowbrook Cemetery, Westport, with the Rev John H. Branson III, officiating. There were no calling hours. The Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Road East, Westport, was in charge of the arrangements.
