Colorgraphics went to 3-0 – and remained in first place in The Gym at Newtown Women’s Basketball League – with a 61-49 win over Newtown Mobil. For Mobil, it was the first loss of the season, dropping it into a second-place tie with Denmo’s.

In the win over Mobil, Colorgraphics was led by a 20-point, seven-rebound effort from Karen Powell. Maura Keenan had 19 points and 13 rebounds while Colleen Ruiz had 19 points, eight rebounds and two steals. For Mobil, Amy Proulx canned 17 points, dragged down eight rebounds and dished off four assists. Lynn Lattanzio added 13 points and 11 boards while Karen Katrinak and Charlotte DuBail combined for 15 points, three blocks, three steals and 11 rebounds.

Walsh Logging defeated The Gym at Newtown, 54-45, as Ruth Rowe poured in 24 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and made two steals. Heidi Gleissner and Pat McCullough combined for 13 points. Mel Darrah led The Gym at Newtown with 16 points, five rebounds and four steals. Carolyn Signorelli chipped in 11 points and seven rebounds as Leslie Trudell, Janet Duffey, Joan Plavnicky and Carolyn Schrieber combined for 18 points.

Denmo’s nipped Imagine This, 47-44, as Jody Rajcula canned 20 points and grabbed 20 rebounds. Laura Denis popped in 12 points and had several key blocks while Laura Cook and Stephanie Trolle combined for 15 points. For Imagine This, Shelly Neveriski had a game-high 26 points while Suzanne Marsan added 10 points and Amy Mangold, Sherri Baggett and Nancy Bowen combined for eight points.

Two weeks ago, Keenan and Ruiz combined for 36 points and 19 rebounds to lead Colorgraphics to a 61-47 win over Denmo’s. Denmo’s was at a disadvantage when Kim Lowell went down with an injury only a minute into the game, forcing the team to play the rest of the game with 3 players. For Colorgraphics, Powell contributed 12 points and six rebounds while Michelle Smith and Denise Passano combined for 13 points. Pasano also added 10 rebounds and two steals. For Denmo’s, Rajcula dominated with 30 points, 19 rebounds and four steals as Cook added 13 points and nine rebounds. Trolle chipped in with four points and eight rebounds.

Newtown Mobil came away with its second win by defeating The Gym at Newtown, 65-35. Lattanzio canned 18 points and dragged down 12 rebounds. Katrinak contributed 14 points and a pair of blocks. Proulx and DuBail combined for 23 points. For The Gym at Newtown, Darrah, Plavnicky and Schrieber chipped in with eight points each. Signorelli added seven points while Duffey and Trudell each dropped in two.

Neveriski poured in 26 points as Imagine This slipped past Walsh Logging, 62-53. Marsan had a strong game with 19 points. Kelly Fegler added nine, Amanda Morici chipped in four and Bowen and Baggett added two apiece. For Walsh, Rowe canned 38 points. Duncanson added 13 more while Doris Ratner chipped in with two.
