Anna E. Wysoskie

Anna E. Wysoskie, 95, of South Main Street, Newtown, formerly of Girardville, Penn., died at Ashlar of Newtown on November 13. She was the widow of Joseph Wysoskie, who died in November 1972. She was the mother of Lorraine Hurley. She was predeceased by her son Leonard and his wife, Patricia.

Mrs Wysoskie was born on February 7, 1908, in Shenandoah, Penn. She resided in Girardville and Mahanoy City, Penn. Most recently, she lived with her daughter and son-in-law in Newtown.

Mrs Wysoskie was an active community leader, a businesswoman and an involved parishioner in her church. She was president of the Rosary Society and a choir member. She owned Anna’s Gift Shop for many years, modeled for department stores, and traveled extensively with the Rambler’s Club. She was exceptionally devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her daughter Lorraine and son-in-law Michael Hurley, survivors include four granddaughters: Diane Sinke and husband Bob of Ringwood, N.J., Maura Kuehling and husband Robert (Rusty) of Port Charlotte, Fla., Cara Wallen and husband Benjamin of Austin, Texas, Micaela McMurrough, stationed in Afghanistan, and her husband Jason of Ithaca, N.Y., and one grandson, Jim Wysoskie of Atlantic City, N.J. Great-grandchildren are Matthew, Ryan, and Eric Sinke, Alec and Jack Wallen, and Grace Kuehling. She is also survived by two brothers, Al Burkevage of Centerport, Penn., and Stanley Burkevage of Ringtown, Penn., and two sisters, Nell Fritz of Mount Carmel, Penn., and Leona Urewicz of Wildwood, N.J. She will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 9 am on Saturday, November 22, at St George Church, 129 South Jordan Street in Shenandoah, Penn. Burial will be at Lourdes Cemetery in Shenandoah Heights. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 pm Friday, November 21, at the McDonald Funeral Home, 403 West Main Street, Girardville, Penn.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St Rose of Lima Church in Newtown at a date to be announced. Memorial contributions may be made to Ronald McDonald House of Tampa Bay, 401 7th Avenue, St Petersburg, FL 33701 and the Fisher House Foundation, Bldg 36015, Fisher Lane, Fort Hood, TX 76544, Attn: Isaac Howard. Local arrangements by the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.
