Lawsuit ‘Blitz’ Is Successful

Preliminary totals show that judges throughout the state settled 501 lawsuits during a two-day blitz last week, and Judicial Branch officials anticipate that the final number will exceed 550.

The blitz, conducted in all 13 judicial districts on November 14 and 15 accomplished its goal, according to Chief Court Administrator Joseph H. Pellegrino.

“The blitz was a cooperative effort,” said Judge John Langenbach, who coordinated the effort. “I want to thank the insurance industry, the plaintiff’s bar, the defense bar, and all of the judges and other court personnel for their very hard work.”

The settled cases represented 40 percent of the 1,238 cases assigned for the blitz.
