Holiday DUI Crackdown Planned

The town is receiving $5,750 in federal highway safety funds to conduct a “driving under the influence” enforcement program during the Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s holiday periods.

The federal funding is being matched by state and local money, according to the state Department of Transportation.

For the Thanksgiving holiday period, heightened enforcement occurred from the early evening hours of Wednesday, November 22, to the early morning hours of Sunday, November 26.

Fifty-three communities in the state are participating in the enforcement program.
