Dorothy M. “Dot” Tinto, 74, died unexpectedly November 5 at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth. She was born May 26, 1941, in Danbury, and was the daughter of Jennie and Dominick Mariani. She graduated from Danbury High in 1959 and lived in Danbury until moving to Maine with her family, in 1971.

Her beloved husband of 53 years, Charles “Chip” Tinto, Jr; sister Jeanette Conover of Newtown; brother Dominick Mariani, and his wife Kathy, of Tavares, Fla.; her daughter Pam Tinto of Amherst, Mass.; her son Michael Tinto, and his wife Melanie, of Medina, Minn.; and three grandchildren, Aaron Pillay of Amherst, and Cooper and Aspen of Medina, survive Mrs Tinto.

Devoted to her family and a faithful friend, Mrs Tinto consistently and joyfully put the needs of others before her own. She will be remembered by all who knew her for her thoughtful, loving, and generous heart.

Mrs Tinto was a respected and dedicated employee at Irving Oil Corporation in Ellsworth for 20 years. After retiring, her strong work ethic and passion for gardening with her husband led to their celebrated vegetable and flower gardens.

A Mass of Remembrance will take place at 11 am, Saturday, November 28, at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, in Ellsworth.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in Mrs Tinto’s memory may be made to the Emmaus Homeless Shelter, 51 Main Street, Ellsworth, ME 04605.
