Holiday Events At Wooster Art Center

DANBURY — Three events will be held at Wooster Community Art Center (WCAC) to welcome the holiday season.

A festive evening of art and music is planned for Friday, December 8, at 6 pm, when WCAC will open its doors for its annual pottery sale. A variety of ceramic pieces will be on sale at prices ranging from $5 to $50.

Live music will be provided by Patrick Hughes and Center of Gravity, a jazz quartet. There will also be pottery demonstrations, holiday fare, and raffles for classes and pottery.

The sale will run until 8 pm on Friday, and then continue on Saturday, December 9, from 9:30 am to 2 pm. This is a fundraising event where students donate their work to benefit Wooster Community Art Center.

Opening the same evening in the Wooster Community Art Center gallery will be an exhibition of faculty artwork. All faculty of WCAC are practicing artists selected for their professional accomplishments as well as their expertise as instructors.

The faculty show will feature painting, photography, sculpture, pottery and illustration, and will remain on view through January 31. There will be an opportunity on December 8 for prospective students to come to WCAC, meet the instructors, and view their work.

The third event of the season at WCAC is the sale of faculty art work which will coincide with the student pottery sale on Friday, December 8, and Saturday, December 9. Faculty members will have a variety of artwork for sale.

A portion of the proceeds will go towards supporting Wooster Community Art Center, which is a non-profit, educational visual arts organization.

All of the events are open to the public, free of charge. The art center is at 73 Miry Brook Road, near Danbury Square and Danbury Fair Mall. Call 744-4825 for additional information.
