Bookmaking Expert At Bethel Library

BETHEL — On Tuesday, December 5, from 7:30 to 9 pm, Robert Massmann will give a presentation on bookmaking. Entitled “In the Beginning Was The Word: The Story of Books and Bookmaking Through the Ages,” the discussion will trace the history of bookmaking from the time of the construction of the first Gurenberg Bible through today. There will be samples on hand.

Mr Massmann, a former head librarian at Central Connecticut State University, has been active in the book field for many years. In the early ‘80s he retired in order to devote full-time efforts to his own publishing company, R.E.M. Miniatures.

The event will take place in the library’s Circulation Room with refreshments provided by the Friends of the Bethel Public Library.

All programs sponsored by the Bethel Public Library are free, open to the public, and meet accessibility requirements for the disabled. Those needing special accommodations should contact the library as soon as possible to make arrangements. Call 794-8756.
