DUI Incident

Police report they responded to a call about 4:30 pm on November 11 informing them that that there was an erratic driver traveling in the area near the intersection of Wasserman Way and Trades Lane at Fairfield Hills.

Police said they located the vehicle in question at the town’s Park & Bark dog park at 21 Old Farm Road, after which they investigated. Police said they charged motorist Robert Mosessian, 60, of 7 Round Hill Road with driving under the influence.

After processing, police released Mosessian on $100 bail for a December 1 arraignment in Danbury Superior Court.

SUV Vs SUV

Police report a two-vehicle accident about 5 pm on November 12 on South Main Street, just north of its intersection with Elizabeth Street.

Motorist Lauren Morehouse, 28, of 7 Green Knolls Lane, who was driving a 2015 Subaru Forester SUV southward, stopped for traffic conditions, after which the Subaru was struck from behind by motorist Kelli Cooper, 27, of Trumbull, who was driving a 2011 Toyota RAV-4 SUV, according to police.

There were no injuries. Enforcement information was not listed.

Hawleyville Crash

At about 7:50 pm on November 10, a two-vehicle accident occurred on Mt Pleasant Road in Hawleyville, near Pocono Road.

Police said that motorist James Walrath, 69, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2001 Acura coupe, pulled out onto Mt Pleasant Road in front of eastbound motorist Jessica Beal, 23, of Colorado Springs, Colo., who was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier, resulting in the Chevrolet hitting the Acura.

Beal was transported to the hospital for observation, police said. Police said they issued Walrath a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.

Evading Responsibility

Police report that an accident occurred in the parking lot behind 100 Church Hill Road in Sandy Hook Center in which the offending motorist drove away from the accident, thus evading responsibility.

The collision occurred there about 1:25 am on November 15. Police are seeking the driver of a light-colored dual-cab pickup truck, similar to a Ford F-250 Super Duty. The truck’s front end would have impact damage. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact investigating Officer Stephanie Vegerano at the police station at 203-426-5841.

Pearl Street Incident

Police report an unusual incident at a Pearl Street residence, near Pearl Street’s intersection with Washington Avenue.

During the early morning hours of November 12, someone entered an unlocked 2016 Subaru Impreza WRX there which had its keys in its ignition switch, police said.

The person then drove the auto from its position in front of a garage to the end of the driveway on the property, leaving the vehicle there, police said.

The intruder stole a wallet which was inside the auto, police said. Police ask anyone with information on the incident to contact them.

BMW Crash

Police report that motorist Alana Lee Murray, 17, of 38 Charter Ridge Drive was driving a 2008 BMW 535-XI sedan westward on Berkshire Road, near its intersection with Nighthawk Lane, at about 11:23 pm on November 14, when while approaching a curve in the road to the left, the BMW traveled straight and went off the right road shoulder, striking an embankment and multiple small trees.

There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Murray for failure to maintain the proper lane.

Highway Crash

State police report that motorist Alex Rogers, no age given, of Providence, R.I., who was driving a Volvo 860 sedan westward on Interstate 84 about 11 am on November 15, told them that he was cut off by a truck, after which the Volvo struck some guardrailing.

There were no injuries. State police said they issued Rogers an infraction for failure to drive in the established lane and for driving without a license.

Pickup Accident

At about 11:33 am on November 12, motorist Nathan Traviz, 21, of Tyler, Texas, who was driving a 2001 GMC 2500 pickup truck westward on Interstate 84, west of the Exit 9 on-ramp, swerved to avoid striking some slowing traffic, but in doing so, the truck went off the left road shoulder and struck some guardrailing on the median, state police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Traviz an infraction for failure to drive in the established lane.

I-84 Collision

State police said that at about 4:33 pm on November 9, motorist Jose Dias-Moreira, 33, of 12-A The Old Road, who was driving a 2001 Dodge Ram 3500 pickup truck on eastbound Interstate 84, west of Exit 9, struck a 2008 Toyota Camry sedan driven by Bienvenida Laloi, 49, of Richmond Hill, N.Y.

There were no injuries. Dias-Moreira received an infraction for failure to drive in the proper lane, state police said.

Wet Roadway

Motorist Adelusa DeAraujo, 32, of Bethel was diving a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV westward on Wasserman Way, about 300 feet east of its intersection with Mile Hill Road South, at about 9:37 am on November 12 amid rainy conditions, when while negotiating a curve in the roadway, the SUV traveled off the right road shoulder and struck an embankment and a tree, police said. The vehicle came to rest lying on its driver’s side.

DeAraujo was transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said. DeAraujo received an infraction for making a restricted turn and for driving without a license, police said.

Toyota Off Road

Motorist Rachel Garton, 18, of Fairfield was driving a 2013 Toyota Prius eastward on Sugar Street, near Madison Drive, about 9:05 pm on November 12, when she became distracted while using the vehicle’s radio, police said.

Garton lost control of the auto, drove off the left side of the road onto a lawn and then struck two trees, police said. The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps checked Gorton at the scene for a pain complaint, police said.

Police report they issued Garton an infraction for failure to maintain the proper lane and for distracted driving.

South Main Collision

At about 7:55 am on November 13, motorist Barbara Ahern, 54, of Woodbury was driving a 2012 Mercedes-Benz GLK-350 SUV northward on South Main Street, as Joazio DaSilva, 51, of Danbury was driving a 2002 Ford E-350 van southward there, police said.

The Mercedes then attempted to turn left to enter Country Club Road, resulting in the two vehicles colliding, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Ahern an infraction for making a restricted turn.

Jeep Vs Mercedes

Police report that motorist Kimberly Scott, 25, of Trumbull, who was driving a 2010 Mercedes-Benz C-300 sedan southward on South Main Street, near its intersection with Borough Lane, was slowing to a stop for traffic conditions at about 3 pm on November 12, when the Mercedes was struck from behind by southbound motorist Eileen Tesch, 81, of 6 Grand Place, who was driving a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Tesch a written warning for following too closely.

DUI Arrest

Police report that they received multiple 911 calls on the evening of November 17, reporting that a silver-colored Lexus sedan was being driven erratically, so they sought and located the vehicle, stopping it near the intersection of South Main Street and Pecks Lane to investigate.

Police said they charged the operator with driving under the influence and with failure to drive to the right, and after processing, released the individual pending an arraignment on the in Danbury Superior Court.

The accused has since provided a court issued document to The Newtown Bee verifying the above charged were nolled on March 2, 2017.
