State Park Ready For The Holidays

DERBY — Osborne Homestead Museum, 500 Hawthorne Avenue in Derby, will host “Treasured Holiday Traditions,” an exhibit inspired by lovely decorations as they travel back in time this holiday season and experience a variety of ways to decorate and prepare for the holidays. Guests will learn the origin of many favorite holiday traditions.

As has been the case for more than twenty years, volunteers create the beautiful holiday displays. Talented, committed volunteers from Ansonia Garden Club, Olde Ripton Garden Club of Shelton, Oxford Garden Club, Naugatuck Garden Club, Roxbury-Bridgewater Garden Club, Derby Garden Society and Pomperaug Garden Club of Southbury all participate in the annual event.

“Treasured Holiday Traditions” will be on view November 26 through December 19. Hours are Thursday through Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm, and museum docents can provide special holiday guided tours.

On Fridays, December 3, 10 and 17, the museum will present Twilight Tours, highlighting the special glow of the decorations in the evening hours. These tours will rum from 4 to 6:30 pm and admission is free, but donations are accepted.
