*Newtown based THE JAY WILLIE BAND will be performing the first of two shows at Hot Shots Grille this weekend.

BTW, the restaurant at 130 Mount Pleasant Road has been renamed Arturo’s Cantina at Hot Shots… which means The Jay Willie Band will be at Arturo’s Cantino at Hot Shots on Friday, November 19, and returning to the same location on Friday, December 10. Shows will get going around 9:30, and the band — Jay Willie on guitar and vocals, Bob Callahan on guitar and vocals, Dave Polley on bass guitar, and Ron Stahl on drums — will be playing plenty of classic rock and blues.

*Also performing this Friday evening will be Newtown musician JOE PROC, who will be at Redding Roadhouse with his band OFF THE HOOK.

Meanwhile, the November 21 performance for WIPED OUT, the band sponsored by Joe filled with younger musicians, has been rescheduled for November 28. The show will still be at My Place Restaurant, on Queen Street in Newtown, from 4 to 8 pm.

*Looking forward to next week’s big turkey holiday, Georgetown Saloon will host a Thanksgiving Eve show by local band STICKY BANDITS, making their Saloon debut, on Wednesday, November 24.

*SARAH MCLACHLAN takes the stage at MGM Grand at Foxwoods on January 1, at 8 pm. Tickets are $50, $65 and $80 and went on sale within the past week. Visit www.mgmAtFoxwoods.com, calling the MGM Grand box office at 1-866-646-0609, go through TicketMaster, or visit the MGM Grand box office for these tickets.

*Also looking into next year, LINKIN PARK has announced dates for their 2011 US tour, which will be stopping by Mohegan Sun Arena on Friday, February 11, at 8 pm. Supporting the band at this performance will be Pendulum and Does It Offend You, Yeah?

Tickets are $52.50 and $72.50 and will go on sale Saturday, November 20, at 10 am, through TicketMaster. Tickets will also be available at the casino’s box office beginning on Sunday, November 21, subject to availability.

*Also on sale this weekend — Saturday at 10 am — will be the tickets for a February 5 stop by THIRTY SECONDS TO MARS at the Oakdale Theatre.

Tickets are $25 reserved or $29.50 pit, and will be available online at www.LiveNation.com.

*We don’t have confirmation on when tickets will be going on sale yet, but my pal and co-editor John Voket tells me that ROBERT PLANT’s upcoming 15-show tour will include a stop at The MGM Grand at Foxwoods on January 28. The tour will feature a touring band made up of the same group that appears on the album: singer Patty Griffin, Buddy Miller on guitar and vocals, multi-instrumentalist Darrell Scott, bassist Byron House, and drummer Marco Giovino.

North Mississippi Allstars will open the shows.

Plant spent October and early November performing in England and Ireland. While music from Band of Joy, released in July, has been his focus, Plant has also been performing Led Zeppelin tunes such as “Gallow’s Pole,” “Rock and Roll,” “Misty Mountain Hop” and “Houses of the Holy.”

Until next week, I’ll be seeing you… on the road.

Questions and comments should be sent to Shannon Hicks c/o The Newtown Bee, 5 Church Hill Road, Newtown CT 06470, or shannon@thebee.com, or call the office at 426-3141. Shows listed at clubs are for ages 21 and over unless specified.
