Holiday Fair At UCC Southbury, Saturday

SOUTHBURY — The United Church of Christ, Southbury, will host its annual Holiday Fair on Saturday, November 20, from 9:30 am to 3 pm at the church at 283 Main Street North in Southbury.

The fair offers hand-crafted gift items from knitted, sewn, and crocheted clothing to hand-carved and painted ornaments, wooden toys, and doll furniture. Handmade clothes and furniture sized especially for the American Girl dolls will also be featured.

Other gift items include baked goods, jewelry and estate silver, and themed gift baskets geared to readers, sportsmen, children, cooks, even the family dog.

Coffee and refreshments will be available in the morning, and a sit-down lunch will be available beginning at 11.

Children can enjoy craft activities, including face painting, with the aid of local Girl Scouts, while the Boy Scouts will sell fresh evergreen wreaths.

A silent auction will run from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, followed at 2 o’clock by a live auction conducted by professional auctioneer Paul Stansel. Among the items to be auctioned are five hours of sailing, personal planning analysis with a certified financial planner, David Merrill lithographs, a week at a home on Cape Cod,  a week at a home in Vermont, and numerous goods and services donated by local businesses and individuals.

The fair will culminate with the drawing of the winning raffle ticket for a “Stars and Stripes” quilt, valued at $1200.  Raffle tickets, at $2 each, are on sale at the church now and will also be sold at the fair.  For raffle tickets or other information about the fair, call the church office at 203-264-8807.

The fair takes place on the church premises at 283 Main Street North in Southbury, a half-mile north from I-84 Exit 15.
