Deer Cull: Futile And Expensive
Deer Cull:
Futile And Expensive
To the Editor:
According to the minutes of the Newtown Tick-Bourne Disease Action Committee, the majority of the members favor culling deer in Newtown. That means hiring sharp shooters at extreme cost financially. The pro-culling enthusiasts believe this will stop Lyme disease as well as other problems for which deer have been made scapegoats.
There is no proof that culling will solve anything. Other towns have tried. There isnât even an accurate count of deer in Newtown. In this economic environment, I am opposed to having my tax dollars wasted on something so futile when they could be better spent in other areas, including education.
Sincerely,
Susan Kokoska
