Anthem Rate Hearings

HARTFORD – Several Connecticut health insurance policyholders and elected officials are urging regulators to reject Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield’s request for a 20 percent rate increase.

The Connecticut Insurance Department began a hearing Wednesday on the request. The commissioner will decide wit—in 30 days whether to grant the increase for as many as 48,000 individual policy holders.

Anthem says its rate request reflects the benefits provided and risks incurred.
