DANBURY â The Western Connecticut Chapter of the American Red Cross held its 13th annual meeting and recognition event at the Inn at Ethan Allen in Danbury on November 16.
Reynoldo Rodriguez of Newtown was elected to a three-year term on the agencyâs board of directors. Another Newtown resident, Joseph F. Morrissey, also serves on the board.
Recognitions and awards also were presented. Mr Rodriguez and Kristen Peterson were honored for their work on CPR Saturday, which was held throughout the region on November 6.
The chapter, chartered 94 years ago, serves 17 towns in Western Connecticut. Services include mass and single-family disaster relief, blood collection, international tracing and emergency financial services to US Armed Forces members, first aid and CPR training, lifeguard and water safety instruction. The chapter mandate also requires support of national Red Cross programs.
