Legislator Charged With Motor Vehicle Violations
Police report they spotted motorist Jason Bartlett, 43, of Bethel talking on a handheld cellphone while driving a Honda CRV eastward near 66 Church Hill Road about 9:57 am on November 17.
Bartlett is the Democratic state legislator, representing the Second Assembly district in the House of Representatives. The district covers Bethel, Danbury, and Redding.
Police said they stopped Bartlett to investigate and learned that his driverâs license was under suspension and that the vehicleâs registration had expired on October 31.
Police said they charged Bartlett with talking on a handheld cellphone while driving a vehicle, driving with a suspended license, and failure to renew a vehicle registration.
After processing, police released Bartlett on a written promise to appear on December 1 in Danbury Superior Court.
