Charter Outcome Was A ‘Vote Of Confidence’
To the Editor:
This past Tuesday, Newtown voters chose to keep their Board of Finance by a two-to-one margin. Other proposed changes to the Charter passed comfortably.
This split result should send a message to our town leadership that this community both wants a voice in picking an independent Board of Finance and that all parts of our town government (and both parties) should work together in a spirit of cooperation to solve the basic problems of running a town of our size.
Thanks to all of those who voted “NO” on Question 2. Now that the Board will be around for a few more years, let’s root for them to live up to this vote of confidence.
