'Musical Chairs' For Children
âMusical Chairsâ For Children
WATERBURY â On Sunday, December 13, at 3 pm, Naugatuck Valley Community College will open the doors of its Mainstage Theatre to children and families for an interactive childrenâs concert called âMusical Chairs,â to benefit the School Readiness programs throughout Waterbury.
The Wine Ensemble of Western Connecticut, a community partner with the college, will perform Peter and The Wolf (narrated), selections from The Nutcracker, Disney and cartoon melodies, and familiar pieces during which children will be invited to move, march, conduct and sing Christmas carols along with the 44-piece concert band.
A slide show will enhance the musical experience and a bake sale will provide refreshments at intermission. Raffle tickets for both an adult and child prize will be given for each $5 donation made at the door.
Proceeds fro the concert will be used to purchase music education materials for the community-based preschool programs within the Waterbury School Readiness System, benefiting children well beyond the performance and into the future.
Admission is by donation at the door and all are welcome. Seats will be first-come, first-seated.
NVCC is a 750 Chase Parkway, off I-84 Exit 18.
