Fifth Annual Madrigal Dinner With NHS Singers This Saturday

The Newtown High School Singers group has been practicing for the group’s upcoming Fifth Annual Madrigal Dinner, scheduled for this Saturday, November 21, at the Stony Hill Inn in Bethel.

On Monday students sang “O Bone Jesu” by Marc’ Antonio Ingegneri and The Beatles’ “Eleanor Rigby” as practice for Saturday’s upcoming performance.

NHS teacher John Harned said tickets normally go fast just before the day the Madrigal Dinner is conducted.

The night will include, along with songs by The Beatles and more Renaissance songs, dinner, a 50/50 raffle, bidding on local items in a silent auction, and the chance to send friends or family to the stockade for crimes, like picking teeth at the table or more.

The Singers, with help from court jesters, will perform skits of fabulous fancy throughout the evening.

Tickets for the evening are $38 for adults, and children 12 years and younger are $17. All proceeds from the Madrigal Dinner go to the Choral Parents Scholarship Fund. To order tickets in advance call 203-426-0678 or email madrigaltix@aol.com.
