ORANGE – The Lady Nighthawks finished 13th at the CIAC Class L championship meet concluded Tuesday night at the Orange Community Center in Orange.

The ‘Hawks took 13th with a total of 90 points. Only one other team from the South-West Conference competed in Class L, Masuk, and the Pantherettes took 10th overall with 111.50 points. Cheshire was the Class L champion with 734 points, well ahead of second-place Amity at 339 points.

Newtown had no individuals or relay teams finish in the top sixth, but one of the best performances in the meet (which actually took place on Monday night) was the 15th-place finish by Tracey Samuels in diving.

Samuels scored 232.85 points. Katelyn Cox of Cheshire won the event with 355.70 points.
