FERC Restricts Lake Usage
WASHINGTON, D.C. â Congressman Jim Maloney (CT-05) Tuesday announced that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has approved the conservation restriction for the preservation of Candlewood Lake. Candlewood Lake is Connecticutâs largest lake.
Connecticut Light & Power, in an agreement with five municipalities including Danbury, New Fairfield, Brookfield, Sherman and new Milford, filed the conservation restriction plan with FERC for approval in August. FERC approval of the restriction is necessary as part of the agencyâs supervision of CL&Pâs activities at the lake.
âThe completion of this agreement is great news for Connecticut residents, especially our people in the Candlewood Lake towns,â said Congressman Maloney. âAs a result of the conservation restriction, Candlewood Lakeâs scenic, recreational and environmental values will be protected not only for this generation, but for all generations to come,â he said.
