Longtime Newtown police Patrol Officer Robert Haas has received the American Automobile Association’s (AAA) Traffic Safety Hero of The Year Award for his success and continuing efforts to educate and protect the traveling public.

Ofc Haas has been a member of the police department’s accident reconstruction team since 2001. Town police nominated Ofc Haas for the award in recognition of his work in accident reconstruction, traffic safety, and speed enforcement.

Ofc Haas will mark his 30th anniversary with the police department in January.
