"Smallworks," a collection of artistic works of art contributed by members of The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) to raise money for the organization's scholarship fund, are the focus of an exhibit at C.H. Booth Library, on view through December 11.

Priced at $25 each, more than 20 pieces are on view, including prints, acrylics, oil, watercolors, and mixed media. The collection is being presented in the showcase outside the Children's Department. The presentation is a collaboration between the library and Newtown Cultural Arts Commission.

For more than four decades, SCAN members - artists of all skill levels and art enthusiasts - have been sharing knowledge of a variety of media, including watercolor, oil, acrylic, pastel, graphics, mixed media, and sculpture. Membership is open to anyone interested in the fine arts, regardless of residence or skill.

The organization offers workshops and weekly classes open to the public. They also offer Drop-In Sketch classes with professional models; Open Studio events for painting and drawing, for nominal fees per session; and the opportunity to show during gallery and exhibition events.

Located at 25 Main Street, the library - and "Small Works" - can be visited Monday through Thursday, 9:30 am-8 pm; Friday, 11 am-5 pm; Saturday, 9:30 am-5 pm; and Sunday, 12-5 pm.
