Robert Walter Golas, Sr
Robert Walter Golas, Sr, 75, of Delray Beach, Fla., formerly of Bridgeport, died October 31, at his residence. He was born January 20, 1937, to Elizabeth Rita (Kosc) and Harry Golas.
A sister, Beverly Rega and, her husband Charles, of Sandy Hook, and a brother, Gary Golas, and his wife Robbin, of Trumbull; two sons, the Reverend Robert W. Golas of Indian Head, Md., and Richard E. Golas, and wife Francesca, of North Haven; one daughter, Robin Ann Davis of Dallas, Texas; longtime friend Louis Tomasiello of Delray Beach; two grandsons; and five nieces and one nephew survive Mr Golas.
He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served from 1956 to 1959. Mr Golas worked for the Bridgeport Police Department from 1961 to 1988 and retired as a detective. He was a member of the Police Benevolent Society, the Eagles Lodge in Delray Beach, and the American Legion. He was an avid golfer and volunteer with many organizations and known as a loyal friend.
Mass of Christian Burial took place November 3. A memorial gathering will take place in Connecticut at a later date.
