Candlelight And Carols Concert Tickets Now Available
Quiet, exuberant, inspiring, dynamic, refreshing â just some of the many words to describe the Connecticut Choral Societyâs Candlelight & Carols concerts, which return to Newtown and Woodbury on December 7 and 8, respectively.
Audience members will find something for every musical taste and mood, with both traditional and contemporary pieces. There will be the opportunity to participate in singing traditional carols interspersed throughout the program.
This seasonâs concert will feature the premier performance of Take Joy! by Ron Dukenski, who both sings with Connecticut Choral Society and is also its composer-in-residence. This is his third work commissioned by CCS.
Due to the popularity of these concerts, the ensemble is now offering three concerts: on Friday, December 7, at 8 pm, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 36 Main Street in Newtown; and Saturday, December 8, and 3 and 7 pm, at North Congregational Church, 11 Main Street North in Woodbury.
Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for youth, and can be purchased online at www.ctchoralsociety.org or by calling 203-206-7186.
Directed by internationally-recognized maestro Eric Dale Knapp, the ensembleâs 75 auditioned singers hail from 18 towns, and are committed to presenting a delightful mix of contemporary, classical, and traditional music.
In July the group traveled to London to present a pre-Olympics concert, âLight the Fire Within,â singing Beethovenâs 9th Symphony and other well known pieces associated with the Olympics.
âThe goal of each concert is to present beautiful music, and in so doing, to enrich the lives of both the audience and participants,â says Maestro Knapp.
