With wins over St. Joseph's of Danbury (40-38), Christian Life (36-13), and St. Ann (34-10), the St. Rose School girls' basketball team opened the 2007-08 season in resounding fashion.

In the win over St. Josephâs, Jessica Jowdy dropped in 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the way. Taylor Brady added six points with nine assists while Adrianna Mihalek chipped in with four steals and five blocked shots.
In the win over Christian Life, nine different players got into the scoring column â with Mihalek canning eight points, KelliAnn McCarthy adding four and Elyse Bokuniewicz and Maria Dutsar with two apiece.
In the win over St. Ann in the St. Thomas Tournament, Mary Beth Meier scored 10 points while Julia Davis scored four and both were a force down low, combining for 20 rebounds. Mihalek blocked three shots, scored four points and pulled down eight rebounds.
St. Rose did fall in the opening round of the tournament, dropping a 30-27 decision to St. Theresaâs. Although double-teamed most of the game, Jowdy was able to net 15 points. From the wing, Bridget Power slashed her way to eight points as Mary Beth Meier and Sara Desrosiers each chipped in with a bucket.
