The Ron Paul Revolution

To the Editor:

A recent poll indicated that 75 percent of Americans are displeased with our country’s direction. We have a dollar crisis, a monstrous deficit, a disastrous foreign policy, health care issues, multitudes of jobs being outsourced, children being poisoned by toys manufactured overseas, the Bill of Rights is almost extinct, and oil this winter will exceed $3 a gallon.

Luckily for America, the Ron Paul Revolution is in high gear. If you’re unfamiliar with him, why don’t you find out why this congressman received over $4.2 million dollars in one day towards his 2008 presidential campaign? His total contributions for this quarter exceed $8 million, which places him in the ranks with the “puppet candidates” who enjoy major mass media attention. In addition, he has received more contributions from veterans and active military personnel than any other 2008 candidate.

Dr Ron Paul has integrity and his voting record has been consistent for over 30 years. He is the only true conservative running for office in 2008. It’s very disappointing to vote for someone on an issue and then watch the issue disappear or lean in the opposite direction once that individual takes office. He is a pro-life, small government conservative, who strongly believes in sound monetary policies, private property rights, gun rights, and setting examples instead of forcing ideals on others. He also believes in a strong national defense and managing our national debt for the sake of future generations. Ron Paul has never, ever, not even once, voted for a tax increase, unbalanced budget, or a federal restriction on private hand gun ownership. In other words, one can be certain that he’ll honor his word and not “sell out” like most federal politicians. For example, many people vote for Republican presidential candidates because they often claim a pro-life stance and to be individuals of faith. In 2005, Congressman Paul proposed the Sanctity of Life Act that defines life to begin at conception and places the authority back into the states as opposed to the Supreme Court. For six years prior to the 2006 Congressional elections, Republicans controlled the House, the Senate, and the presidency. One can conclude that these “pro-life” politicians had no intention in fighting for unborn children’s rights, but rather, use the pro-life stance as a mask to dupe conservative voters.

The Republican Party has been hijacked by the neoconservatives. A policy of nation-building, policing the world, and the promoting of authority to the United Nations is a road to disaster for this nation. Ron Paul is the last chance to restore America. He is the only presidential candidate who vocally opposes the National ID Act, Patriot Act, and other intrusive legislation in front of national audiences.

There will be an exciting assembly sponsored by the Danbury Ron Paul Meetup Group on Saturday, November 24, from noon to 3 pm, at the town hall. We encourage all to attend who’d like to hear more about this amazing leader and why he’s become so popular. Coffee and refreshments will be served.
